Just As I Figured

1 Feb

The kids’ school was canceled along with all area grade and high schools.  My school was NOT canceled.  I called in with a personal day.  Dan stayed home with sick Gianna yesterday, so it was my turn.  I could have brought the kids into school with me.  I thought about it.  But then I have a lot of students with children (a lot of “dislocated workers” who have lost their job and are going to school for retraining).  What will they do with their kids?  Bring them in also?  So I decided to take a personal day.  Oh well…

I don’t know what to do with Gianna’s sweater that I started.  I’m going to keep going with it I guess – even though I don’t think I have enough yarn!  Maybe… Maybe not… I’ve stopped it for now.

I started another pair of socks.  And it’s not the pattern I showed on my blog a few days ago!  I bought some very busy yarn on sale – MAJOR SALE – at Hobby Lobby.  So I grabbed a ball of that and started knitting a toe.  Gianna saw the yarn and proclaimed her love since it’s all her favorite colors (or so she says).  The yarn is variegated and was “pooling” so I thought I’d try something different.  I read somewhere that adding a slip stitch will help to break up the pooling.  So I made up my own pattern.

Row 1:  Knit

Row 2: Knit, Knit, Slip

Row 3: Knit

Row 4:  Knit, Slip, Knit

Row 5: Knit

Row 6: Slip, Knit, Knit

The slip stitches are varied in their location so it just made a pixelated looking pattern.  (My text editor is saying that pixelated is not a word but you know what I mean.  It looks like pixels on a screen with not enough resolution.)  It’s kind of cool looking and makes the fabric a bit thicker so I’m going to continue with it.  It’s a really easy pattern to memorize too and it’s knitting up quickly.

See? Look at that price!

I’m reading a book named “Little Bee”.  It’s pretty good.  The author repeats a lot but I like it.  I finished “The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake” last week.  I read it on my sister’s recommendation.  Someone else quick read it because my sister and I totally interpreted the ending differently and I need to discuss it!

Today I’m going to read another chapter in my photography book and play a bit more on that front.  I’ll post any “masterpieces” that may result.  😉
