After I get those three last seams sewn, the top will be 64″ x 64″. That’s a little small for my taste, so I’ll add a skinny white border then either a red or blue border – depending on what fabric I have in my stash.
I got to thinking…. This was such an easy leader-ender quilt because of all the 2.5″ pieces that were sewn together. What if I made another one scrappy – everything but the kitchen sink kind of scrappy? Light squares where the blue is; dark where the red is. Consistent background around the stars? No… Scrappy background I think. Do I have enough 2.5″ strips and squares?
I think I have enough! 🙂 Hmmmm…. maybe I’ll lay it out in EQ and see how it would look!
EDIT: How’s this?

This quilt is looking great. I think I’d like the scrappy version even better! I’m big on leaders and enders too. Sometimes you make the best quilts that way.
I agree! The thought of doing it all out of 2.5″ squares is daunting. I think I’d fall back on consistent background for the center so I could cut 8″ finished squares for those like I did in this quilt.
