Leaders and Enders

16 May

The Dresden Plate top is off the design wall awaiting inspiration for the borders. So far I’m leaning towards piano keys but I’m not sure if I want to go with 1.5″ strips. I don’t have 3.5″ strips cut so that’s not an option. I think I may go with the 1.5″ of dark scrappy fabric and then curve in an outer border of that background fabric.

In the meantime, I’ve been piecing together 2″ strips then cross cutting them into 2″ pieces then joining them together into four patches as my leader and ender project. I had quite a few made so I started putting together blocks for a double (or is it triple) Irish Chain top. I was pleasantly surprised at how many I had done!

I really need a new bed quilt for our very large bed. If I make this 13 x 13 and add borders, then it will fit. Do I have the attention span for this? Who knows. But we really don’t need yet another lap quilt! So I think I’ll plug away at this one for a while.

In the meantime, I’ll start cutting more 1.5″ strips for that border.
